It’s time for my list of favorite Snow Books for kids!   At the beginning of each new  season, I get out my collection of children’s books for the next few months.  Winter, of course, has two separate collections.  One very large collection of Christmas books, and then a smaller collection of Snow books.   I’d like to share with you a few of my favorite snow books below!  (Click on book title for link to Amazon.  I do not receive any compensation for the links posted below).

  1. SNOW BOOK #1:  Winter is the Warmest Season

Snow Books

I love the irony of this book.  My kids always argue with me that winter is NOT warm.  But I’d like to argue that this is one of the coziest books you’ll read all winter.

2.  SNOW BOOK #2:  A Perfect Day for It

Snow Books

An adorable book about a group of animals who are all just SURE they know what their friend bear is up to on his trek up the mountain.

3.  SNOW BOOK #3:  Snow

Snow Books

This is one of my all-time favorite snow books.  It was one of my child-hood favorites when I was a little girl and it’s just as magical when I read it to my own boys!

4.  SNOW BOOK #4:  The Mitten

The Mitten, Snow books

The Mitten is a classic tale of a group of animals who all try to burrow together into a lost mitten to stay warm.   It has been retold many times, but of course Jan Brett’s version and her illustrations are a favorite in our household.

5.  SNOW BOOK #5: Bear Snores On

Bear Snores On, Snow BOoks

6.  SNOW BOOK #6: The Snowy Day

Snowmen at Night, Snow Books

Of course, no collection of snow books is complete without The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats.  I did not actually know about this book until I was an adult and teaching at a local elementary school.  But I sure am glad I have a copy for my own kids to enjoy!

7.  SNOW BOOK #7:  Snowmen at Night

Snowmen at Night, Snow Books

The entire snowmen series is so much fun!  We loved reading Snowmen at Christmas, and this one is just as fun!  Caralyn Buehner has also written Snowmen at Play, Snowmen at Work, and Snowmen all Year.  The illustrations are fantastic and the stories are charming.  I only wish I had come up with the idea!  🙂

Well, I hope you have enjoyed a few of my favorite snow books!   Reading with my children is one of my favorite things to do, especially during this time of year when we can snuggle up by the fire with a fuzzy blanket.

In addition to reading to and raising my four sweet boys, I am also a newborn photographer!  I specialize in capturing heirloom images of your baby during their first year of life.  But I also want to provide you with encouragement as you grow as a family and learn to raise the sweet babe that God has blessed you with.

If you are interested in finding out more about my newborn and baby photography sessions, please contact me HERE.  I’d love to talk with you about document the very beginning of your baby’s story!
